Posted By: Union Street Gallery Featuring: Nina Weiss Union Street Gallery will present NOT FAR OFF, a solo exhibit of recent landscapes in oil by nationally recognized artist Nina Weiss. The exhibit of twenty-five paintings will open on Friday, June 11 and run through July 31, 2010. An opening reception will be held Friday, June 11 from 6 – 9 pm and Nina Weiss will be present to greet visitors and share some insights into her paintings. The public is invited to meet the artist and to view and discuss her works with her. A second reception will be held on Friday, July 9. Exhibited in dozens of solo, two-person and group shows, Weiss says she paints landscape “because of my intense reaction to form, gesture, color, and rhythm. I feel at once the peacefulness of nature, and the astounding drama of the landscape. Studying the landscape connects me to something big, basic, and solid.” NINA WEISS NOT FAR OFF, curated by Union Street Studio Artist Claudia Craemer, presents large, intense, lushly painted works that are expressive and boldly-colored documents of journeys Weiss has made through Illinois, Michigan, Maine, Italy and Ireland.
