Founded in 1931, The Drama Group is one of the oldest, all-volunteer community theatres in the country. The Drama Group produces a season of six (6) Full Productions, two (2) Daytime Children’s Theatre Productions and a 2-Week Kids Summer Theatre Camp. Renowned in the Chicago Southland area for excellence in theatre, from broadway style musicals to powerful dramas and riotous comedies, The Drama Group has also premiered seven original plays and often tackles the most recently released new work. Another innovation is a unique Theatre Exchange Program with the Stables Theatre in Hastings, England. The Drama Group’s distinctive character is evident in the talent, dedication and expertise of its members. From the office staff to the designers, directors, performers, and backstage crew, all are volunteers who commit untold hours to the pleasure of their audiences and the perfection of their craft. The Drama Group has won many statewide and regional awards for excellence in directing, performing and technical achievement.
