The 75-member Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Carmon DeLeone, is the largest performing arts organization in the Chicago Southland providing professional, orchestral music of beauty and excellence to the region. It draws audiences from over 68 south and southwest suburbs including Chicago, Indiana and Michigan.
Now in its 27th Season, the Illinois Philharmonic integrates artistry, repertoire, education, diversity and collaborations with its performances. From November through May, the Orchestra performs a five-concert Saturday Evening Symphonic Series featuring internationally-acclaimed guest artists at the 1,200 seat concert hall at The Center for Performing Arts, Governors State University in University Park.
In addition, the Orchestra performs two annual Pops Concerts in December and February. The Orchestra also performs a Sunday Matinee Series at Lincoln-Way East and Central High School Fine Arts Centers in Frankfort and New Lenox.
Special guest artists for the 2004-2005 season include Chicago Symphony Orchestra cellist Katinka Kleijn in November; Marie Michuda and Jeff Mattsey in the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra’s Holiday Treasures Pops Concert; acclaimed Chicago tap dance soloist Lane Alexander in January; Gospel Grammy-winner Cedric Dent in February; violin virtuoso Rachel Barton Pine in March; Guest Conductor Victor Yampolsky in April; and prize-winning piano soloist Dmitri Ratser in May.
