"Over 60 years of Live Theater in Palos!"
The Palos Village Players was founded in 1941 as an entertainment club for the village and area of Palos Park. Zay Smith, a well-known architect, his wife and a few friends met to read plays. This was a way to bring the ARTS to the area. In the Spring of 1942 they decided to produce the Palos Village Players' first play. We have produced plays every year since.
Our Venue, since it was remodeled in the 1980's, has been the Palos Park Village Recreation Center. The stone building was built in 1930 and has a good stage. New curtains, audience risers and a stronger sound system have made it a cozy home for most of our plays. For some smaller plays, we occasionally use a comfortable Palos Middle School theater that has arena seating.
We produce three or four plays per year. Our open auditions bring talent from a wide area of the southwest suburbs. The rehearsal schedule is 3 nights each week for 6 to 8 weeks and our actors are asked to become members. Our membership of $38 includes a ticket to each performance, monthly newsletter mailings, and invitation to join in our social and member meetings. We offer a $38 season ticket, which includes a reserved seat admission for three plays. There is also a Senior Matinee price of $35. Please call 1 877 PVPTIXS for tickets or information.
