Established in 1927, South Suburban College is a fully accredited community college with a student population of more than 10,000. Located in South Holland, IL, SSC offers over 40 career education programs awarding transferable credit, certificates and Associate Degrees.
SSC is home to some outstanding programs and performers in the fine and performing arts. They include:
A Music Department that offers an Associate in Fine Arts Degree in Music and various types of instrumental musical experiences. The primary groups are the SSC Symphonic band, Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Orchestra, among several others. The music department also features a Concert Choir and South Suburban College Chorale;
The Theatre Department offers an Associate in Arts Degree and features The SSC Playhouse, The Children's Theatre Company, and The PAC Rats Community Theatre Company—three groups working under one roof—that produce a variety of shows year-round;
The Art & Design Department is home to four state-of-the-art galleries and offers an Associate in Arts Degree.
All of the programs, bands and theatre groups at SSC have the benefit of a newly renovated Albert J. Kindig Performing Arts Center. The PAC, complete with new seating, lighting and sound can hold an audience of over 400.
