Spotlight Theater was founded in 2005 with the goal of providing a unique selection of quality theatrical productions to the Chicagoland area. We strive to bring a wide variety of genres, interpretations and viewpoints to the stage to offer an alternative to the well-worn material performed by many theatres. Most of our productions are staged in Sherman Recital Hall, a handsome 200-seat theater at Governors State University.
Our past productions include the first non-equity production in the state of Illinois of the seminal tale of alienated youth, "The Graduate," our critically-acclaimed staging of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," our modern interpretation of Shakespeare's "Othello," and the tuneful, family favorite "Annie Jr," performed by 45 talented kids: our largest cast to date!
Spotlight is an independent, registered, charitable organization that regularly donates proceeds from shows to organizations to benefit causes such as PADS for the homeless and Alcoholics Anonymous. So support a worthy cause or two by joining us for our fourth season of theatrical adventure!
